Hydrogen, the energy of tomorrow

Energy has always been a major issue of sovereignty. Environmental problems, technological and scientific advances will eventually allow us to get rid of fossil fuels, even if this change will be much longer than we might wish.

Energy has always been a major issue of sovereignty. Environmental problems, technological and scientific advances will eventually allow us to get rid of fossil fuels, even if this change will be much longer than we might wish.

However, this is a turning point that it would be good not to miss for our country, indeed we probably have a unique opportunity to regain sovereign energy autonomy, so that political and industrial players can get themselves in order battle.

We are already fortunate, even if I know that not everyone shares this point of view, to have low-carbon electricity production in France, thanks to the industrial nuclear industry. This is an asset that we must keep, but this is not the subject here. But our nuclear industry and our offshore wind farms could be the foundations for producing another very useful source of carbon-free energy: Hydrogen.

And in this hydrogen sector, we already have French champions like Air Liquide, but also smaller, equally innovative structures, such as Pragma Industrie, which stood out during the last G7 organized in Biarritz, where was made available for the occasion a number of bikes based on fuel cell technology.

But this French company is also and above all specialized in fuel cells with great innovations that can have multiple uses in mobility (Car, bicycle, scooter, etc.) but also for other uses as an alternative energy source for data centers …

To ensure the success of the establishment of this sector, public authorities also have their role to play. And on this subject, a certain number of regional initiatives are being set up (AFHYPAC), with the Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Normandy and Occitanie regions at the forefront… (leGaz.fr), with initiatives on setting up of refueling stations, but also putting into service of hydrogen buses, and soon of hydrogen trains.

It is therefore important to follow the companies that are involved and innovate in this sector, it will be important that they can continue to flourish and thrive in an ecosystem of partner companies, we must also ensure that they will have the necessary funding for each of their development phases.
